About My Green Lab:

Global scientific research and discovery is a 1.5 trillion global industry over half the size of the automotive industry, and its activity generates a significant environmental footprint: worldwide, laboratories discard over 12 billion pounds of plastic annually and consume 5-10 times more energy and water than typical office spaces.

Since our founding in 2013, MGL has evolved into the most influential and fastest growing organization in the laboratory sustainability space. My Green Lab was founded to deliver solutions to reduce the energy, water and material consumption and carbon footprint of scientific research and discovery. Today we have built a fully independent and robust certification standard, one centered on a culture of sustainability through direct engagement with scientists and their laboratory teams. In addition to motivating behavioral change in and around the lab via practical, effective tools with clear measurement and verification, we are also leading data-driven research into environmental health impacts and resource consumption.

Today, membership in our programs is growing by over 100% a year and includes small laboratories and startups to some of the science community’s largest corporations and academic institutions such as Genentech, AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline and Johns Hopkins University.
