Another Source’s client, Pomona College, is recruiting an Associate Director of Prospect Research to join their Advancement team. In this role, you will lead a growing research team of two to support fundraising success for the entire Advancement team. You will work a hybrid schedule of three days on site and two days remote in Pomona, CA.

What you will be doing:

In the position of Associate Director of Prospect Research at Pomona College, you’re not merely assuming a role; you are actively contributing to the evolution of our fundraising landscape. Your responsibility involves leading a team of research professionals with precision and strategic acumen, shaping a dynamic prospect strategy in alignment with our institutional goals. The anticipated yearly salary range for this position is: $85,000 – $91,000.


How you will spend your time:

Thorough Prospect Analysis: Validate, analyze, and meticulously document biographical and financial information for prospective donors, ensuring a nuanced understanding of their philanthropic potential.
Strategic Prospect Profiling: Craft high-caliber, in-depth prospect profiles that not only inform but strategically contribute to our campaign priorities, setting the stage for impactful fundraising.
Adherence to Ethical Standards: Navigate the information landscape with ethical integrity, summarizing relevant data from news alerts and publications in alignment with established guidelines.
Pipeline Enhancement: Collaborate closely with the Director and Assistant Director of Relationship Management to refine and fortify the prospect pipeline, ensuring strategic alignment with campaign objectives.
Systematic Information Management: Develop and manage systematic procedures for information collection, evaluation of philanthropic potential, and seamless integration of insights into our Advancement CRM.
Leadership in Prospect Identification: Spearhead prospect identification and portfolio development efforts across the broader Advancement teams, championing a unified and strategic approach.
Innovative Data Utilization: Design cutting-edge reporting tools and user interfaces, collaborating with technology teams to develop reports/dashboards that optimize portfolio and prospect pool management.
Collaborative Fundraiser Support: Cultivate robust working relationships with fundraisers, offering proactive support and implementing best practices that contribute to their success.
Strategic Engagement: Actively participate in quarterly portfolio reviews, monthly check-ins, and strategy sessions, leveraging your expertise to shape and refine our fundraising strategies.

What you will bring:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4+ years’ experience in fundraising with strong research, relationship building, and communication skills.
Understanding of wealth and biographical indicators and portfolio management processes from information discovery to compilation and sharing, through referrals, and to transfers of portfolios, and retirement of prospects
Ability to define team goals, demonstrate initiative and independent decision-making and judgment in the handling of confidential and sensitive material.
Strong understanding and competency with CRM, relational databases, various advancement technologies and their relationship with research, reporting, and other outputs. Experience with associated professional software (such as, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, Evertrue, Cognos, prospect research tools, is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s preferred.
A minimum of 4 years of advancement experience or related field at an academic institution is preferred.
Higher education fundraising experience preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred.
